Goodbye March!

Our snow is gone and the garden preparation has begun!  This was the last week of school before Spring Break for the kiddos and the kiddos are excited to do NOTHING (well...there will be a few chores and outings ;)  We hope our family and and friends are doing well - we are sending good thoughts to all!

Addie and Saffron relaxing

Same with Ayson and Jett

Addie's school chrome book keyboard was not working and Addie asked Ayson for help.  None of us expected the type of help Ayson was going to give.  Addie did get her keyboard fixed the next day at school.

Amy and Addie had to get up early on Saturday morning (Addie was not please) so that we could attend the Expanding Your Horizons Conference at Cornell University.
Completing a scavenger hunt - Addie is in front of the Rachel Carson card and the clue referenced the her book "Silent Spring" - which linked the use of insecticides and harm to the environment (including insect pollinators, pets, and people).

Playing a game during the first workshop on DNA and mRNA.

The 2nd workshop included holding specimens from Cornell's human brain collection and the dissection of a sheep brain.

The main room of the Conference had various tables set up with demonstrations and we learned about fluid dynamics, damselflies, mechanical energy, and plant genetic modification (and sensors) that allows the plants to communicate with humans - which would be helpful with knowing when moisture or nutrients are needed.

Our last workshop included the dissection of a sheep eye (Amy found that to be the most gruesome due to the aqueous humor (like a gel) that had to be scarped out to see the lens and cornea).

Addie could not believe the taxidermized birds on display.

On Sunday, Amy and Addie "petted the pets" with Denise while the boys cleaned up the gardens (and dog poop).

Happy Spring

Happy Spring to our family and friends!!  The week flew by for the kiddos with a four day school week.  They slept in on Friday and relaxed all day!

There is NO food in this house!!!

Addie received birthday gifts from her friends and one item was edible "paper" with a gel pen.

The night time ritual.  At least Addie still likes (not just tolerates) Adam (but she doesn't like his long hair).

Ayson received his Learners Driver's license in the mail - he was very happy.

Happy Birthday Addie!

Happy Birthday, Addie!!  We love you tons and tons and tons!  We hope you have a fabulous year and we can't wait to experience it with you.  Amy asked the kiddos if they felt older and they both stated no.  Amy then asked if they felt older than 4 yrs old and 10 yrs old :)

This picture was from March 17, 2012

Addie's 12 month growth photo

Tuesday weather was gorgeous and Amy asked Addie if she could still "fly" on the swings.  Alas, Addie is now too big to "fly" properly!

But she did it - if only for a few seconds :)

The last time there were pictures of "flying" on the swings was 2013!  Only Ayson could do it :)

On Saturday, Grandpa Chuck and Marie came over for a visit.  Addie showing Marie her latest obsession: Needoh stress balls.

Opening Birthday cards - thank you!

After cake, the family relaxed on the couch and watched the dinosaur documentary.

Ms Annie stopped by to wish Addie Happy Birthday - thank you for the card and gift :)

Ice cream cake for the win!!!

Ah yes, the card from big brother...

Thank you to the family and friends that gave Addie cards and gifts of money!!

Adam made French onion soup and it was SO good!  Check out the dog heads next to Adam...haha.

Ms "There's no food in this house" made her first batch of buttered noodles by herself!!

On Saturday, we petted the pets :)

Ms Annie stopped by to wish Ayson Happy Birthday from Annie and Bob - thank you!

On Sunday morning, Ayson and Adam went to a friend's house so that Ayson could see the maple syrup process.

A revere osmosis system to assist with boiling the sap down.  Ayson received a small jug of syrup.  Thanks, Jerry!
