Winter Break Fun!

The kiddos had Winter Break last week. They were able to play outside on the almost 70 degree days on Tuesday and Wednesday, on Thursday the went to the movies, Friday to the MOST (Museum of Science and Technology), and on Saturday we went to Grandma Collene's house for a visit. What a GREAT week for the kids!

Addie lost her 2nd tooth on Monday night!!!  We have been carefully flossing and brushing around the wiggly tooth for almost 2 months now!

Tuesday and Wednesday were crazy warm!!!  The kids were on winter break and were able to play outside during the afterschool program. Yay!

We were able to look at the moon Wednesday evening through our telescope!

That night, Addie and Mommy watched the moon, earth, and sun on the ceiling!

WHAT is this?!?  Mommy's ride home Thursday night.

Prime entertainment right here!

On Friday morning, Daddy took the kids to the Museum of Science and Technology to listen to an interview with NASA Astronaut Mark Vande Hei on the International Space Station (he launched to the ISS in September 2017).
SO COOL!!!
The interview was by amateur radio. Boys & Girls Club of Syracuse Central Village students asked Mark Vande Hei a series of questions from the MOST's ham radio station exhibit until the ISS reached the horizon and communication was lost.

Fun in February!

A week of parties for the kiddos: Valentine's Day on Wednesday, 100th Day of School on Friday, Valentine's Family Date on Saturday, and Sky Zone/lunch date on Sunday!  We hope everyone is happy and healthy!!

While at the Dentist office on Tuesday, Mommy and Daddy found a picture of Ayson in the "no Cavity club" from 2016 :)

Ayson's class had a blast sledding on Tuesday

Mommy attended the Valentine's Parties for Addie and Ayson

Friday was the 100th day of school.  Ayson's teacher had an app on her smart phone that would make you look old.
A 100 YEAR old Ayson!

Ayson's "at 100" story: "I need medical help and after that I sit on the toilet and get off and then get on again and then I fall on the rock hard floor and break most of my bones and I did not break one of my arms and called for help.  It took 1 year to fix me.  One year later, Grady died at the age of 102. 48 years later I died at the age of 150"

Addie dressed as a cat.  Meow!

Addie requested that we color eggs, so we did!

On Saturday night, we had a Family Date Night for Valentine's.  We each picked want we wanted for dinner and Daddy made double chocolate fudge tart.  YUM!

We went gallivanting in Syracuse on Sunday: Sky Zone, lunch at Bone Fish Grill, and a walk at Clarks Reservation State Park.
Playground fun

Don't step on the cracks!!!

Snow Days and Friends and Family

A snow filled week with a 2 hr delay on Monday and a snow day for Mommy on the kids on Wednesday.  Mommy visited with Ayson's class on Thursday and Ayson had a friend sleep over on Friday. Saturday and Sunday were spent playing inside and out :)

February: a heart shaped from Aysons hands :)

Monday 2-hr school delay means EGGS for breakfast!

Addie requested straight hair. Addie is smiling - so she said:)

Wednesday was a snow day for the kiddos AND Mommy. The kids were supposed to have french toast sticks for lunch (at school) and were disappointed. So Mommy made french toast discs :)

Working on valentines for class

Watching the movie Shaun the Sheep :)

Checking for "life" (water from the fish tank).  Mommy told the kids that we need to let the tank get nice an green with algae:)

Mommy introduced Ayson to "Calvin and Hobbes" and let Ayson read Mommy's "Calvin and Hobbes" books :)  He could not stop reading.  He was supposed to be getting ready for bed but instead Ayson was standing in the hallway reading :)

Ayson set Sir Jacob up at the table to read.  Addie flipping the pages for Sir Jacob.

On Thursday, Mommy gave an interactive presentation on erosion and sedimentation to Ayson's 2nd grade class.  Mommy covered turbidity (water cloudiness - when the water looks like chocolate milk), smoothering (of bottom habitat and fish eggs/coral), and excess nutrient input leading to increased vegetation and algal blooms).

The kids had to scrape gummy treat packets out from under a blanket of sediment.

The kids had a cup of "clean" water and "algal bloom" water.  They then had to flip a coin three times and sip from either the clean or algal bloom cups.  The kids had a choice for the algal bloom water: koolaid, vegetable V-8, OR baby food peas :)  A majority of the kids wanted the baby food - hahaha.
Mrs Kolbeck spooning out baby food for another brave contestant.

Trying to locate the slippery gummy treats in a mess of "water weeds" (cooked/watery pasta) using only 1 finger to scoop the treats out.

A classmate of Ayson's drew this picture for Mommy :)

The kiddos also wrote thank you notes and three stated they wanted to be scientists!  Yes!!
