Summer Vacation (for the kids)

The kids had a good week of sleeping in and doing LOTS of swimming.  Amy was tired of the swim floaties not being able to withstand kiddos so she bought a swim mat that (hopefully) won't break as easily as a floatie. The kids LOVE the new toy :)  We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the long summer days/nights!

Addie tested out the mat the night we got it :)

The kiddos swam and played on the mat from 8 until 10 pm Friday night - they had SO much fun!!

More swim fun was had on Sunday :)

Holy Heat Wave!

A crazy warm week had us in the pool every day and multiple times a day!  Addie's class had a 6th grade graduation ceremony, Ayson's 8th grade trip to Sea Breeze (amusement park) was canceled but luckily Addie's class trip to Sea Breeze was just postponed from Tuesday to Friday due to the heat. Ayson is DONE with school for the year and Addie has 2 more days (at least the days are 1/2 days)!  Enjoy summer!!!

We checked in on a friend's pets while they were away.

Ayson pulled out the microphone and started to sing karaoke - the kiddos had a ton of fun screeching and singing :)

Ayson spotted a skunk in our yard Saturday evening and we all stood on the deck to watch the skunk investigate our garden.

Happy Father's Day!

On Father's Day, Grandpa Chuck and Marie visited for the afternoon and we had told Kate and her family to stop by AND we also had Mr Bob and Ms Anne stop by for visit too - what a fabulous day with our family and friends!!!

Adam enjoying the pool after painting in the house and cooking!

Chatting with Ms Annie by the pool.  She had stopped by to give Addie a card to congratulate her for 6th grade graduation (next Monday evening).

Mr Bob and Ms Annie had been at the Euro Car show held at the Apple Festival grounds.  Mr Bob won FIRST place for his complete restoration of an 1953 MG! Congratulations, Bob!!! It was great to have Grandpa and Marie meet Bob and Annie AND the men/boys were able to discuss cars :)  The adults were enjoying "tinto de verrano" (red wine and sparkling lemonade over ice - sort of like sangria that Adam discovered while in Spain)

Warm start to June

We had a warm weather week filled with swimming every day and a cooler weekend filled with galivanting for the girls and work for the boys.  We hope our family and friends our doing well and enjoying June!  The kiddos are VERY excited to almost be DONE with school for the summer!

We got the cornhole boards out for the summer!

Swimming!

Addie's Girl Scout troop had a Loved One Luau and Addie and Adam had fun eating, coloring, and doing the limbo.

Addie held our friend's walking stick on Friday night AND we found one outside of it's enclosure on the wall - an escape artist!!

Our friend Kate has 3 hens that have been brooding (but not laying the eggs).  Kate had been putting eggs from other hens under the 3 brooding hens to see if they would be good mommas to the eggs.  On Friday Addie and Amy helped the process along!   Friday night when the 3 hens were sleeping, we helped place day old chicks under the brooding hens and then next morning - tada the eggs had "hatched"!  All three hens are being good mommas and plucked their chest feathers (to create more body heat contact with the chicks) and are keeping the chicks warm and safe.

On Saturday, Ayson did yard work for our friends and then hung out with Emmett swimming and playing video games.  Meanwhile, Amy and Addie helped Kate move animal fencing (for the goats) at Kate's parents house and afterwards, we visited Long Point State Park on Cayuga Lake (first visit for Amy and Addie!).

Addie pretending to fall backwards into the lake.

We searched for (and found) smooth rocks with holes through them - like a small hole was drilled. Amy thinks there may have been a small section of softer material that got eroded away.

Goofing around on the playground

Addie helping the goats reach a tree branch once we got back "home" to Cardiff.

Kate sent us a photo from Sunday morning of the hens with the chicks by the food/water after the other chickens had left the coop for the morning.  The hens were all huddled close together for the chicks.

Addie and Amy attended a Girl Scout outing to Haven at Skanda in Cazenovia- a friend of ours volunteers at Skanda :)

Weeding in the garden - Addie is the green hooded sweatshirt bending over and pulling weeds...hahaha.  She can NOT get away from weeding.
