August Adventures

Another great summer week.  Mommy and Daddy started the week off being off with the kids (Daddy was busy in the morning finishing the roof on the garage), we had ice cream TWICE during the week, and Ayson had "Pop Rocks" for the first time :)

Ayson can now ride his two wheeler (with training wheels)...we did not put the trainers on until now as we were hoping he could learn to balance without them but since we don't have a ton of time to spend with him on the bike, we broke down and put the trainers on AND he was off to the races!!!

Addie's new word: "Grandma" as in "Grandma Linda" our Day Care provider...don't feel bad Grandmas...Addie sees Linda every day during the week.
On Sunday, Addie finally walked on/over grass without constantly wanting Mommy to pick her up!!

Monday:
Playing at the park.

After Daddy was done with the roof, we went to Sweeties for ice cream and then headed to the park.  It was after this outing we decided to put the training wheels on.  At least Ayson wears his helmet!

Mommy and Addie on the slide.

Crazy Man can STILL fit inside his barn!

Addie lounging on Tuesday :)  Check out her dirty feet!

Giggles with Daddy on Wednesday.

Thursday:
The after dinner pose:  Lately, after Addie finishes dinner, she wants to get down and then she walks over to Daddy and wants up!  Of course, Ayson wants in on the attention too!

Ayson riding his bike on his own for the FIRST time!  He also fell for the first time when he took a turn too fast...a bit of road rash on his lip, forehead, and hand.

Addie is always pointing out the balls at the park, even when we are at our house.  As soon as we go over to the park we have to go get a ball so that she can play with it.

Our future ball player!

Daddy helping with the shot.

Thursday evening, Ayson and Mommy went to story hour at the library.  The time is right at his normal bed time so he was a bit tired but overall he did great!

Saturday morning Ovaltine mustache.

Daddy harvested the onions from the garden and Ayson helped to wash them off.  Daddy had to sternly (and repeatedly) tell Ayson NOT to spray Daddy :)

After naps, we went back to Stafford Park (and Sweeties) so that Ayson could ride his bike in something more than a small circle.  He loved it!

The girls.

Daddy getting kisses from Addie...yes, Daddy said a bad word (poop or fart) at the table and Ayson caught him :)

On Sunday, we went to Pratts Falls and actually checked out the water fall (normally, we walk in the fields and look for milkweed).  Addie kept pointing at the water and Ayson wanted to climb over the railing.

We all enjoyed the morning at the park.

All three swinging together.

A view of the falls from the top and more pointing.

Ayson eating "pop rocks" for the first time.  Mommy made Daddy give Ayson a "demonstration" first.  Mommy was not too certain Ayson liked them or not as he did not eat the entire (little) packet.

Fun with the Kids

Our Day Care provider was on vacation this past week so Mommy and Daddy got to spend extra time with the kiddos!
Addie's new words:  night night and cookie (she calls any snack a cookie :)
Ayson has been learning how to wash his hands after EVERY time he uses the bathroom...and hand washing does not mean running water over his hands for 2 seconds.  We have been singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" (he did not want "Happy Birthday" :) during hand washing and making sure the soap makes bubbles.

Monday:
Ayson spinning and laughing on the park swing.

Daddy and Addie standing next to the TALL sunflower.

Tuesday:
All the small kids playing together:

Wednesday: Mommy's turn to measure the sunflower height with Baby Doll.

Last spring we had unseasonably warm temps in spring and then a severe frost which froze most fruit tree blossoms.  THIS year our apple trees are so heavy with fruit that the branches sag to the ground.  The kids love to eat the sweet, ripe apples.

Daddy, Neighbor Gianna, and Ayson practicing their juggling skills with a few apples.

Gianna was trying to make it work by throwing her apples WAY up high :)  It made Ayson laugh :)

Thursday:  Egg Night!!!  Yes, Ayson smeared nutella on his eggs...he did eat everything on his plate!

Friday:
The picture is blurry, but Ayson and Addie were having fun on the little car.  Ayson was pushing her around and he was being a very good big brother.

On Saturday, we went to the park and Ayson insisted on rolling down the hill.

Our little dare devil, Addie, is into standing on her rocking chair and climbing on anything and everything.

Happy Happy August!!!

We had a festive week filled with Mommy and Daddy's 7th wedding anniversary, Daddy's Company family picnic, Mommy's spa day with girlfriends, a NYC whirlwind trip, and antics with Daddy.

Addie's latest word that we can understand: water.  A phrase we swear she says at the appropriate time "what are you doing?"  Daddy says "what are you doing?!?!" to Ayson all. the. time.
Ayson did NOT have ONE pee accident in his bed during the night or during nap time...YAY, such a big boy! He did randomly poop in his underwear today/Sunday (I guess you can "never trust a fart" even when you are young...not that Mommy would know...must be a guy thing:)

Mommy and Daddy both remembered their anniversary (July 29th) a couple of days before hand, but we both forgot about it on Monday morning.  We remembered about half way through the day and sent each other an email :)
Monday afternoon we were able to play outside for a good bit of time as Ayson did not dawdle during dinner.
Ayson practicing his batting skills with Daddy.

Mommy is SO glad that she is no longer Daddy's burdock target!!!

Swing time with Mommy!

Tuesday:
Fun at the park.

Addie loves to point at balls and say "ball, ball."  She was not interested in sharing the ball with Daddy.

Mommy giving Ayson a push on the big boy swing.  Addie watching closely.

Hi Baby Doll!

Thursday:
A^4 went to Jamesville Park for Daddy's Company family picnic.  We all feasted on good food, chatted with Adam's colleagues, and Ayson had fun playing with the other kids.

There was even a balloon man for the kids and Ayson received a red teddy bear balloon.

Addie on the slide...weeee!

Friday was Mommy's birthday and she had planned a spa day with 3 friends at Mirbeau (Mommy used a gift card from Daddy...thanks, Daddy!!!!).
Mommy and her friend, Robyn, went to a morning "Tone and Stretch" class and Heidi (see the below picture of the bartender/fitness instructor) kicked our butts (and legs/core/arms)!  At one point, Mommy said, "I am going to need a straw to drink my wine!"  After the class, Mommy and Robyn met up with Anne and Sandie and we all relaxed in the outdoor hot tub and chatted on the patio.

This "Monet-esk" picture is the view from our lunch table on the patio.

Mommy and her friends: Robyn, Anne, and Sandie.
Mommy and Robyn both have August birthdays and we had been talking about doing a "spa day" for at least 6 years...and both Anne and Sandie were over due for some "me" time.  We all had a great time at lunch and then each had pedicures :)

Ayson eating a massive chunk of carrot birthday cake Friday night.

Mommy left the house at 6:30 am Saturday morning for a whirlwind trip to NYC with two neighbor friends: Denise and Josephine.
SO, Daddy was holding down the fort with the kiddos. Mommy and Daddy had discussed (very, very briefly) giving Ayson a hair cut. Mommy warned Daddy not to cut Ayson's hair too short because Ayson likes to twirl the hair above his forehead. Mommy joked with Daddy that he should give Ayson a mohawk. Well, Mommy got a text from Daddy on Saturday morning with this:)

Addie now eats right at the table with us.  She is such a good girl!

Mommy's friend, Denise, has a brother who owns a penthouse apartment in Brooklyn and when the brother is not in NYC, he encourages family to use the apartment.  Denise has taken many of her friends to NYC for quick weekend getaways (about a 4:15 hour drive) and Mommy was finally able to break away from the kiddos to take a trip into NYC!  We had a fabulous time and Denise is an awesome tour guide!!!  Once we arrived at the penthouse apartment, we dropped off our stuff and then went to lunch in Brooklyn Heights. We then took the subway to Manhattan and walked around downtown.  We saw old brown stone houses in Brooklyn, Grand Central Station, Times Square, a fabulous grocery store (see below pics), an amazing cooking store (Dean and Deluca...Adam would have been in heaven) and just took in the sights and people.

One of the views from Mommy's bedroom window.

A beautiful grocery store that had everything crammed in from floor to ceiling.

Apples, cheese, and wine...mmmm!

The evening view from the penthouse apartment rooftop patio (Yes, Mommy is using the word "penthouse" as many times as she can :)  :)
We picked up snacks (cheese, fruit, hummus, guacamole, and dessert) at the grocery store and then dined on the snacks and wine while sitting on the penthouse patio while the sun set.  We then got up around 5ish on Sunday and were on the road at 6 am Sunday morning.

Mommy was home by 11:15 (we stopped for breakfast :) and everyone was happy to have her home!
