Fun Filled Weekend

An uneventful week and an action packed weekend!  Friday was Grandparents Day at school, we rode bikes Friday evening, Adam and Ayson camped out on Saturday while Amy and Addie went for a hike, and we had a play date on Sunday.  We hope everyone is getting outside to enjoy the spring flowers and sunshine!

A little dramatic BUT she did it:)

Crazy Shadow!

Working on a word search with Adam.  The kids love doing word searches!

Shadow wants to be where Ayson is - too cute!

Game night - Go Fish!

Hi Thunder and Shadow!

Friday was Grandparents Day at school and Grandma Collene and Grandpa Chuck were able to participate this year.  Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa!!!

On Friday evening, we went to the big park so that Addie could ride her new bike.  She fell down a few times but got right back up and on her bike.  Good Girl!!

Balance challenge!

There were tons of people at the park Friday night.  The kids had SO much fun!!!

Friday's weather was perfect (no rain and low 60s) so we had the first S'mores of the season :)

Pretty Lilacs

New bee hives are getting started in the orchard.  The bees were very active around the hives on Saturday.

Addie giving the buttercups water.

Looking for crayfish but instead we found water bugs and drift wood..at least the water is no longer an alarming blue color!

Pretty blue sky!

Hi Addie!

Adam was up crazy early Saturday morning and burned our pile of brush - this picture was taken at 5:20 am!

On Saturday, the boys went camping at Highland Forest with the Cub and Boy Scouts

BIG bonfire

It started to rain just as the boys were packing up on Sunday morning- so they skipped a camp breakfast and went to Elm Street Cafe instead :)

On Sunday, Addie had a play date with her classmate Lena.  Lena's Mom just happens to be Ayson's 3rd grade teacher, Mrs Kolbeck :)  Lena's little sister, Mackenzie, also came over and we all had a blast at the park, playing inside and outside, AND on the trampoline.

It was crazy hot (high 80s) for mid May so we broke out the swimsuits and sprinkler so the girls could cool off.

Lena requested that we set up the tunnels - so we did!

Hi Kiddos!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the ladies in our lives!  We had a busy week and while looking through the photos, Amy realized that she took more pictures of flowers and the sky than she did of the kids :)  We hope everyone is happy and healthy AND had an enjoyable weekend!

Monday night sunset!

Our crab apple tree is booming!

Ayson and Shadow cuddling with Mumma Saturday morning

Saturday morning was the Fishing Derby at Stafford Park.  Ayson was in the running for smallest fish but was edged out by a quarter inch :)

The Optimist Club hosted the event and had food for the community, prizes, and a gift for each child!

We could not believe all of the kids at the park!  The kiddos had a blast!

Saturday afternoon was cool but gorgeous so we decided go for a walk in the orchard (Mumma's Mother's Day activity)

SO blue!

The orchard apple trees were blooming

Eeek!  Not so nice was that the little creek had blue/green water :(   This little creek is a tributary to Onondaga Creek and we think someone used too much copper sulfate (an algaecide) upstream in a pond (basically, if the water is blue than sensitive invertebrates and fish are goners).

SO many tadpoles in a mud puddle during our walk

The bleeding hearts look fabulous!

Happy Mother's Day to all of our friends and family!  The kiddos made Mumma cards and gave her flowers.  It was actually nice to have a rainy day where we were forced to stay inside, play card games, and not worry about outside chores.

Spring Kittens

A busy week for Adam and the kiddos and Amy!  While Amy was working near the Niagara River, Adam and the kids were getting the house ready for a few future additions to the family - kittens! We hope all of our family and friends are doing well and are enjoying spring!!!

Purple Martin gourds and a decoy!

We installed 6 of these structures along the Niagara River from Buffalo to Grand Island to Niagara Falls!

A snail out of its shell

While Amy was away, the kiddos helped Adam clean the basement and paint the floors - a task that needed to be completed before we could even consider getting another cat!

The reward for hard work - dinner at Byrne Dairy!

Spring tulips!

LOOK!  We found morels on the edge of our garden :)

Adam found at least 12 morels in our side yard near a dead apple tree!

Apple blossoms!

The bounty

Morels from our yard and the orchard

Arcade fun on Friday night at Tully's restaurant

Both kiddos won prizes!

On Saturday afternoon, we headed to PetCo to look at kittens.  Neighbor Denise volunteers with a cat adoption group, Wayward Paws, which was having an adoption event at PetCo.  We cautioned the kids that even if they found kittens that they fell in love with that we may not be able to bring the kittens home right away.  As chance would have it, both kids did find an 8 week old kitten that they loved AND the kittens were able to come home with us Saturday afternoon - 2 brothers :)

Meet Addie's kitten, Thunder

And Ayson's kitten, Shadow :)

After we brought the kittens home and set them up with food, water, and litter, Addie and Amy were off to a Spa Day with our friend and neighbor, Ms Annie.  Ms Annie had given Addie a manicure set for her birthday and invited us over to her house for a girls afternoon:)

While Addie alternated clear glitter and blue:)
