January Outdoor Adventures

We are back in the school routine and all is well with A^4!  Snow finally arrived and the kids were able to get their first downhill ski lesson on Friday.  Ayson loved it and Addie tolerated it :)  We hope everyone is happy and healthy!!

Getting ready for the BIG game!  Clemson did not win but they will try again next year :)

Working on the scout sled on Wednesday evening

and making cardboard creations

Legos!

We finally have snow and the kids had their first downhill ski lessons on Friday evening :)

Adam made chicken pot pie, pumpkin pie (from our plethora of pumpkins in the fall), AND pumpkin soup over the weekend - yum!

Saturday playtime by the fire

followed by a walk at Tracy Lake

And a walk in the orchard on Sunday.  Instead of our normal route, we walked our loop in the opposite direction - to keep things "interesting"  hahaha.

Hugs!

Back to Reality - 2020

The FIRST week back to school for the kiddos (after being off for 2 full weeks) and back to work for Amy and Adam.  We were all happy when Friday afternoon rolled around!!!  We enjoyed time at home and went for a hike on Saturday.  We hope that 2020 is off to a great start for all or our fiends and family.

The elementary school is participating in the second year of "One School One Book."  Last year, we read about a pig that went on an expedition to the South Pole and this year we are reading, "Kenny and the Dragon"

The Wednesday cub scout meeting had the kids building a tower - working as a team AND only using their left hands.

Learning about pulleys

Meanwhile, Addie worked on her Uni the Unicorn Activity book on Wednesday

Saturday was the Scout pinewood derby but Addie really did not want to go...SO the girls stayed home!
Addie working on her blank comic book: stories about cats

Then we learned about chromatography: - the science of colors

Watching the green food coloring dye separate into blue and yellow

Experiment 1 was with tap water and Experiment 2 was with tap water plus salt - better color separation with salt water

Next we investigated the candy coatings on a few favorite snacks:
Skittles on the left (2 purple and a green) and M&Ms on the right (red and green)

Meanwhile, Ayson was not feeling very well at the pinewood derby

His car did win one of his heats and came in 2nd for the 2nd heat!  His car placed 7th overall :)

On Saturday, it reached a balmy 62 degrees!  So, we took a walk to the creek Saturday afternoon:)

Happy New Year and Family Fun

A fun week with the kiddos - lots of electronic time, games, and time with friends and family.  We spent New Years Eve with friends and did an early count down so that we could go to bed BEFORE bedtime.  We hope that all of our family and friends are enjoying 2020!!

Playing the Game of Life - Addie had SIX kids!  She could not fit them all in her car :)

Not one picture on New Years Eve but we had fun at a friends house and the kids ran around the house chasing each other.  We did the New Year's count down at 10 pm so that we could all go home and go to bed :)

New Year's day hike at Tracy Lake

On Thursday, the kiddos each had a friend over for the day AND it was gorgeous out.

While Amy and Addie were skating, Adam, Ayson, and the family went for a hike to the "Tippy Top"

Unfortunately, the fog was so think that they could not see a THING!

At least the waterfall was still flowing!
