Rainy Weather and Saturday Galivant

It was a busy rainy weather week with work meetings, practices, and football.  Over the weekend, we went galivanting in Syracuse and caught up on chores during the dry (for once) weekend.  We hope all of our family and friends are doing well and enjoying fall!

Great storm cloud pics over Onondaga Lake on Tuesday afternoon

And, it rained during Ayson's football game on Tuesday afternoon.

Ayson is # 81 (he is looking at the camera)

Ayson bought an old school game and the boys had fun playing together.

Gorgeous sunset Friday night!!

On Saturday we went galivanting in Syracuse with early morning hair cuts for the boys and a trip to Target for the girls.  Afterwards, we went to Stella's for breakfast AND we ran in to our neighbor's Rick and Denise who were meeting people there for breakfast :)
Afterwards, we went to the Regional Market and picked up garlic and a yummy rum cake.
Picture of the Amy and the kiddos walking through the market sheds.

We even made a stop at a pet store and Amy teased the family that she wanted another orange kitty.  While Amy was looking for gecko supplies, she spotted Adam and the kids looking at the cats available for adoption (no one can resist looking at the cats/kittens:).  We did NOT adopt another four legged family member.

Saturday afternoon, we planted garlic and saffron crocus bulbs.  We read an article about Vermont farmers growing saffron crocus bulbs in a magazine that Ms Annie passed along to us and we decided to order our own and see what what happens.

Ayson exhausted after pulling out the corn stalks, helping Adam with the pool winterizing and cleaning the wood stove chimney...but Ayson has ALL the energy for football practice.

We all LOVED the rum cake and we may just have to try and make our own cake :)

Addie and Amy are each reading the book The Girl Who Drank the Moon.  Auntie Holly gave us a copy when Ayson was entering 5th grade :)  It has been fund to read the book together and talk about our favorite parts such as when the Bog monster gets turned into a cute bunny OR the paper birds turn into real birds, or the stone that opens up into a door at a castle :)

A Busy Week with School Activities

A busy week with the school routine and school activities.  Ayson had football each day with practices and a game on Tuesday.  Addie had band, running club, and Girls Scouts on Tuesday and Thursday.  Amy and Adam went to curriculum night on Tuesday for Addie and Thursday for Ayson.  For Ayson's curriculum night, we were able to go through a day of his classes with a few minutes to navigate the hallways.  Well, we got lost in the hallways, entered science class late, went to the wrong classroom, loitered in the halls talking to friends, AND had problems opening Ayson's locker...hahaha!  Amy also gave presentations to 6th graders all day on Thursday and Friday at Cortland County's Conservation Field Days and she was wiped out from the non stop activity and talking!  We hope everyone is healthy and enjoying September!!!

Ayson's first football game of the year was on Tuesday and luckily the rain held out!  Ayson played the 2nd and fourth quarters (Modified football) and he had fun playing defense.

Ayon's team is wearing the gray jerseys and he is playing against number 59 (maroon jersey)

Addie standing next to a massive pumpkin growing outside of the garden fence at the high school near the football field.

Amy has started to look up when she opens the door as spiders and bugs drop down when the door opens.  On Wednesday she spotted a walking stick insect and made sure to show the kiddos!

On Saturday, Ayson went to a friends house for the afternoon and a sleepover and Addie wanted to go to the park - so we did!

She made it!

Fun with Friends

A busy week with gatherings with friends on Monday and Friday and football practice Monday through Saturday!  Ayson's first football game is Tuesday.  We are enjoying as much time as we can outside and harvesting from the garden.  We hope that our family and friends are doing well!!!

Neighbor get together on Monday at Denise and Rick's man shed.  Rick fried perch, there were many tasty snacks, AND it was great to chat with our neighbors/friends.  Thanks Rick and Denise!!!

Gorgeous sunset that Addie captured during the week.

On Friday, Amy and the kids went to a friends house for the evening to relax and catch up while Adam helped Grandpa Chuck move.  The kids had fun playing hide and seek outside and inside, building forts, dancing to Taylor Swift, AND eating homemade pineapple ice cream and homemade chocolate ice cream.  Yum!

Ayson giving Addie the smart card test - he can guess ANY number that you pick based on the cards :)

A chickadee posed for Amy on Sunday :)

First Week of School is DONE!

First week of school and we are getting in to a new routine!  We hope that everyone is doing well enjoying September.   Happy Birthday to cousin Ryleigh!!!

Cool fog on the mountain on Labor Day - the fog and rain hung around all week!

On Tuesday, we went to school orientation for 7th and 5th grade.  We walked Ayson's schedule, met his teachers, helped him with his locker, and learned about his modified football schedule.
We did the same for Addie however it took MUCH longer for Addie to figure out her locker - she has to lift up on the little vents on the top of the locker when opening her locker:)

Ayson and his friend, Christian, hanging out in Addie's classroom.

The FIRST day of school - can you feel the excitement??!  We had to wait for the bus while standing in the garage since it was raining.

A picture of a few 7th graders from the first day of school.

Ice cream to celebrate the first week of school:)

Ayson wanted to cool off after football practice and Addie got in the pool with her school clothes on.

Gorgeous moon flowers blooming!

Kids and Cardboard

LAST full week of summer vacation for the kids and they spent their time acting like kids:)  Kids with cardboard...hahaha.  After Ayson put the box on, he ran around the yard in it (after he cut eye holes).

Then the kids had to try jumping over a stack of boxes.

THEN a stack of boxes with Ayson inside...

Let's not forget just hanging out in boxes like cats (note that Thunder is sitting in a cardboard box).  Addie needed help getting out of this box.

GORGEOUS sunset!!

On Thursday, Ayson had a friend over and then we went to Stafford Park and met up with more friends.  The kids had fun playing gaga ball (but no pictures).

On Friday, Addie had a friend over and they swam in the pool most of the afternoon:)

But they also played at the park.

Addie with her homemade snack: banana, dipped in yogurt, and then rolled in fruity pebbles (put in the freeze to set).  She saw the recipe on the box of Fruity Pebbles.

A walk at Baltimore Woods on Sunday- we discovered new play structures (a culvert turned into a fort)

YAY! Ayson finally got up!!
