This post covers two weeks and was a hard post to write. Addie lost a friend (and 8th grade classmate) to suicide on Saturday, October 11. October 11 and 12 were the Apple Festival and most families and students found out about the loss of Ella while working at the festival Saturday morning. Mental health is a topic we talk about freely at home and we are sending so much love and support to Ella and her family. Amy decided to include Ella's passing and our grieving in one post. We are also sending so many good thoughts to our family and friends. Please remember to take care of YOU.

We went to Ms Annie and Mr Bob's house for golumpki (pigs in a blanket :) Sunday evening. Ayson had seconds of golumpki after he had a slice of gingered squash pie. Addie like the meat and rice but not the cabbage. Thank you, Annie and Bob, for a yummy meal!

Adam has been traveling a bunch and he took the week of October 13 off to refinish the downstairs hardwood floors.
Tuesday was hard for Addie - but the school had so many options to help the students to process their grief. That evening, Amy and Addie spent a long time going over Addie's day (something we do every night and always starts with Addie saying "I got on the bus....").

There was a cross country race on Wednesday and Addie did NOT want to run - she was mentally exhausted and worried about surprising a woodchuck during the race and getting lost on the trail. We told Addie the woodchucks would not chase her. Addie did not get lost BUT her friend, Molly, did! Molly doubled back and waited for her sister who is a senior in school (both girls are the fastest runners) and then Molly let her sister cross the finish line first. Too sweet!
Amy and Addie attended the services for Ella and her family Thursday/Friday and afterwards we went to our friend Kate's house to "pet the pets." The baby goat, Oliver, is so adorable!
Friday night, Ayson and Adam went to Grandma Colleen's for a BBQ while Addie and Amy stayed home. The girls carved pumpkins while the boys started the BBQ fire.

On Saturday, Addie had another race and the girls modified team came in first place (for the small school division). Great job, Ladies!
After the race, we went with neighbor Denise to the cat shelter for more "petting the pets." There are SO many lovable cats that need a good home!

Scavenger hunt Witches
On Sunday, Amy and Addie went to The Haven at Skanda - in memory of another teen that our community lost to suicide in 2022. Each animal barn had a different breathing and mental awareness technique to learn about and try out. Of course Addie wanted to find the cats :)
