Happy Days

A^4 had a great week of exploring the new toys we received at Christmas and playing with Grandpa Chuck and friends over the weekend.
On Monday, we made "yellow snow" from Ayson's "Gross Science Lab" kit.  The project was on super absorbent polymers and used a few crystals from a disposable diaper to expand more than 100 times in size.

The toilet is a mixing bowl and you press the red button to make the bowl spin (includes a flushing sound too)

Yellow snow!

Super hero lego time

Addie playing with her magnetic Marine Animal Rescue Center kit.

Look at Addie's expression as she puts the girl through the door.

Making bracelets on Tuesday night.

TaDa!  The finished Lego super hero: Iron man

On Saturday, Mommy and Addie joined Sunshine and Mikhan at Spaghetti Warehouse where we watched a children's version of Alice in Wonderland.  The audience was encouraged to dress up so Addie wore her Cinderella dress:)
A very nice Mom asked if we wanted our picture taken while sitting in the tall "Princess Chair"...but of course!

The play was great and the actors and actresses interacted with the audience, much to the delight of the children.  Both Addie and Mikhan liked the show and did a great job of listening and participating.

Grandpa Chuck came out for a visit and the kids wasted no time in getting his help with Legos AND as a horse/chair :)

Daddy and Grandpa made spaghetti sauce, yum!  Both kids wanted to sit next to Grandpa...so Mommy and Daddy got to eat sitting next to each other!

Ah, MORE Legos!

On Sunday, Sam and Ben (the two boys that go to day care with Addie) came over to our house to play so that their mom, Lucy, could go grocery shopping and get a few chores done while her husband is "frolicking" in Belize for TWO weeks (he is helping to teach a marine biology course...such a hard life). Mommy took a 2 week Belize course while in undergrad and loved it. Scott (Scott is also Mommy's work colleague) will owe Lucy BIG time when he gets home.  Mommy sees a spa weekend (or longer) in Lucy's future ;)

The Sam and Ben were great and it was fun to see the four kiddos interacting together as they have grown up with each other while at day care.
A big toy explosion in the play room (Mommy likes to think of it as "organized chaos" during the week)

They fought over the card board box but finally calmed down once they were all inside.  Thanks for the 2 boxes of kid clothes, Auntie Holly!  The check is going in the mail this week!

After lunch, we went for a walk in the orchard and then played on the fort.  The day had temps in the 50s!  BUT, we are supposed to get lake effect snow this coming week.

A bit of Ayson's school work:
Great coloring job, Big Guy!

LOVE this picture!  We asked Ayson why Addie was not in the pictures.  Ayson: "Because she is not my parent"  :)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to our Family and Friends!  Our wish is for everyone to be happy and healthy.

A pretty low key week for us with lots of playtime.  Ayson went to a school day care program through Wednesday and then to Linda's with Addie on Thursday.  Auntie Julie, Uncle Dan, and the kiddos came over for New Years Eve and Day, then on Satuday, we had a play date with a neighbor friend.

Addie and Mommy painting a "Frozen" piggy bank that Addie received for Christmas.  Mommy painted the edges and then Addie painted the center.  We will try and finish the bank this week.

New Years Eve with Daddy and Mommy rooting for Clemson!!

New Years Eve din din:
Mmmm, brie in our new brie dish. Thanks, Grandma Collene!

Daddy made French onion soup...yum!  Of course we had French wine to go with it :)

Ayson standing next to his block creation.  ugh, Mommy does not let the kids play on the stairs but Mommy must have been distracted with everyone over on New Year's Eve.

The cousins posing together.

Mommy found a video of the New Years Ball drop from 2014 and played it for the kids so that they could join us in ringing in the New Year earlier than midnight :)

Puzzle time!

Nice job, Auntie!!!!

Playtime outside on Friday with a little bit of SNOW!

Mommy helping Ayson with his HotWheels race tracks.

On Saturday afternoon, we went to a neighbors house for a bit of sledding.  There was not much snow but the sleds went far and pretty fast.  Mommy's legs hurt from running...trying to catch up to the sleds before the kids got too close to the road.  The sleds went MUCH faster and further than Mommy thought they would!

Ayson and Daddy putting together one of the Robot toys Ayson received at Christmas

The Robot moves back and forth on a rope.

A walk in the orchard Sunday afternoon rounded out our week.  As you can see, our snow is gone but there is hope for more next week :)
Happy New Year everyone!  Make this year count for you!!!

Christmas with the Ryan, Caulfield, and McPike Families

On Saturday, drove to Auntie Julie and Uncle Dan's house to celebrate Christmas with Grandpa Chuck and Pama, Jim and Babs Caulfield, and Grandma Collene.  Thank you to everyone for the fun weekend!

Hug with Nana Babs :)

Dancing to Johnny Cash!

Next up: Mommy and Ayson dancing

Then the boys wanted to dance with Daddy/Uncle Adam

Mommy and Auntie Julie were up until 1 am listening to music...just one more song!
Daddy and Uncle Dan fell asleep while watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Cousin Kaela left notes for them on their chests: "You owe me $5-$6 for rubbing your feet"  LOL!

On Sunday, we had brunch with Grandma Collene and Jim and Babs.

The kiddos had a great time playing with everyone and of course opening presents!

Daddy styling some pretty blue hair extensions.
