Mommy arrived safely in AZ and then rented a car with her colleagues (Anne and Dan) and drove north to Sedona. Oak Creek ran behind our lodge in Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona, AZ. The weather was cool in the mornings (30 degrees).
Rocks the size of trucks helped scour the canyons.
Mommy, Anne, and Dan at the Grand Canyon (south rim) on Sunday. The temps were in the low 40s but we were all dressed in layers and had a great time.
This was Mommy's first trip to the Grand Canyon and it was fantastic! The horizon seemed limitless and Mommy really wished she could fly! We walked a portion of the Rim Trail and then rented bikes so as to be able to cover more ground to see the incredible views. At one point, it was raining, then sleeting and hailing...but we laughed through it and had a great time.
We walked a few minutes on the South Kaibab Trail until we got to the switch backs :) It was a weird feeling to walk below the rim of the Grand Canyon, as if we were descending into the earth!
That night, we made a Mexican feast with wine/margaritas, guacamole, pico de gallo, meat/cheese quesadillas in our lodge kitchen. Yum!
On our way back to Phoenix (where the meeting was being held), we did a little shopping in Sedona and Mommy had to get her picture next to the sign that stated that the fudge recipe came from Mackinac Island, MI :)
Our last stop, (before returning the rental car) was to Tuzigoot National Monument, a Southern Sinagua village built between 1000 and 1400.

The Verde River is a strip of green in the desert landscape.
Meanwhile, back in New York, Ayson, Addie, and Daddy attended Emmett's 5th birthday party. Happy Birthday, Emmett!
(Good job, Daddy on remembering to have the kiddos wear their hats!!)
Grandpa Chuck came over on Saturday to help Daddy with the bathroom project.

Bright and early on Wednesday morning (5 am), Mommy and Dan hiked the Piestewa Peak Summit Trail, at 2,610 feet before the 8 am meeting start time. Mommy knew the temps in Phoenix were only going to climb higher that day AND the rest of the week so hiking in the early morning was the best option.
One website on Piestewa Peak stated that it is one of its most popular hiking venues where over a half a million people hike its Summit Trail every year: "It is an interesting fact that the numbers of hikers enjoying Piestewa is second only to the Grand Canyon's Bright Angel Trail."

Mommy with her friend and colleague, Jo Ellen, who also has a blog about her kiddos (a boy and girl just a few years older than Ayson and Addie...total "mini mes" of Jo and her husband) and family. Mommy likes to read Jo's blog to find out what kind of antics she and Daddy can expect in the near future :)
Ayson had a Dentist appointment on Wednesday and he was able to pick a prize for NO cavities! Yay!!!
Thursday was the first T-Ball game. Ayson and Addie's Lafayette team played a team from Onondaga.
Daddy kept the kids organized (and seated...NO small feat!) while waiting for their turn at bat.
Daddy said he had to take a picture of their numbers to keep the kids in batting order (Ayson is #4 and Addie is #1)
Addie running to first base after hitting the ball. She was the last hitter of the inning so it was a "Grand Slam" with all of the runners making it home :)

The kids were supposed to be cleaning up the playroom before Mommy got home on Friday night.

Instead of organizing everything, Ayson thought just shoving his toys under the desk would work. Nice try, Ayson! :)
Daddy has made amazing progress on the bathroom. Now only the "finishing" needs to be done (trim, sealing, etc).
